About the event
Sponsored by the synod’s Global Church Together Network, this event will feature a guest keynote presenter, workshops, “World of 100” global simulation activity, global music, worship and lunch featuring global flavors. The event is set for 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The keynote speaker will be The Rev. Dr. Themba Mkhabela, ELCA regional representative for Southern Africa. He will share how ELCA accompaniment works in Namibia and talk about some of the related projects that the ELCA supports. The Rev. Dr. Winston Persaud Winston will preach at the worship service, with Pastor Hope Johnson presiding.
Presenters with global connections will lead workshops on these topics:
- Young Adults in Global Mission — Brittany Barkus, CLS
- Hungary: Meaningful Connections & Opportunities — Pastor Kathy Graves
- Namibia Yesterday & Today — Pastor Mike Wilker
- Make Your Own: 7-Stranded Roma Bracelet — Pastor Susan Friedrich
- Global Music Jam Session — Pastor Margaret Yackel-Juleen, Pastor David Efflandt and Brittany Barkus
- The Art of Hospitality Given and Received — Pastor Liz Bell and panel discussion
- Hungarian Cooking Demonstration
The cost to attend is $10 per person. Those who pre-register online by Aug. 16 can participate in the interactive World of 100 demonstration. Others will be able to serve as observers.
