2024 Spring Service Projects

Union Community School District’s spring break is almost here! Our Sunday School students (and the congregation who would like to join) have an opportunity to be part of a community service project on both Sunday, March 10 and Sunday, March 17 during fellowship.

LOADS OF LOVE

The first project on Sunday, March 10 entails the assembly of a laundry kit that once completed will be given to the local food pantry. Each kit will have the supplies and quarters needed to wash and dry a load of laundry. Our goal is to have enough donations to assemble 25 kits. Our largest need will be … Quarters! Each kit requires 16 quarters. If you’ve got some loose quarters jingling in your pocket or purse, please deposit them at our donation station in the Fellowship Hall or send them with a Sunday School student to turn into their teacher. We could also use a few empty toilet paper tubes (… just toilet paper, please. Paper towel tubes will be too large.) These can also be dropped off at our donation station before March 10th. (All the other kit items have been sourced.) During the Sunday School hour on March 10th, any interested congregation members are encouraged to join our students and assemble the supplies together into individual kits.

TAKE AND MAKE MEALS

If you Google "meal kits", you will find no shortage of options! On Sunday, March 17 assembling Food Pantry TAKE AND MAKE MEALS will be our second service project this spring. The inspiration for this community outreach, was the question– "What if you could grab a single bag and have all the ingredients needed to make a recipe?" Our 7th grade students did a little research and chose their favorite shelf-stable recipes. Those picks will make perfect options for our version of TAKE AND MAKE MEALS. What's needed now is your generous support to “sponsor” a recipe and shop for the items needed. To help, grab a shopping list for the meal you’d like to sponsor, purchase those items and return to our donation station in the Fellowship Hall before March 17. (Recipes are listed below!) On the morning of the 17, the Sunday School students and any other interested volunteers will package all the kits and include the recipe.

THANK YOU for your generous support of both your time and donations as we lead and teach our students to be involved in the community around them. The lesson for our kids is at the core of our mission, to share the gospel and reach out through Fellowship, Evangelism and Ministry to all in need.
