The Splendor of the Spring

May is often associated with spring, celebrations (1st Communion, Mother’s Day, Graduation and various holidays).
May is a time of renewal and growth, with many flowers in bloom and the weather becoming more pleasant.
What glorious spectacle we witness each year as nature awakens
from her winter slumber! What transformation in fields and forests,
as the pall of ice and snow is blown aside by Spring’s warm
winds, and buds appear on trees and bushes! If our gaze could but
penetrate nature’s worship and see the tremendous activity in every
sector: how tiny roots are bursting with life giving sap, ready at a
moment’s notice to break forth and form the thick, soft carpet of
leaves and flowers, upon which Spring will make her triumphant entry
into the land! However, we must not remain on the plane of nature;
for us, nature is holy symbol. It is a picture book given by God
to his children in which they may see another world, the world of supernatural
life within us, which can become alive, with all its splendor,
because Christ is risen.
